Fall… when the weather becomes crisp and cool and the days start to get shorter. The leaves on the trees turn beautiful colors of red, purple, and yellow. The kids are back in school (YAY!),  and moms everywhere are enjoying that morning cup of coffee in silence. I look forward to these moments as much as the rest of you I’m sure:)

Fall is the time for harvesting the lovely crops we have worked so diligently on all summer.  What will you be harvesting?? For me it is the few tomatoes that have popped up in my tomato garden, peaches the kids’ grandpa gave us, and apples, oh apples galore!!!  We have wonderful neighbors who have the most lush apple tree and have told us we can have as many apples as we would like!! This is a dream for me since we live in town and growing fruit trees has its limitations.  I have spent two days cutting, coring, and peeling apples to make applesauce, apple pie, apple crisp, and apple butter.  I enjoy the process and have made a lovely array of canned items to use throughout the year, or give away as gifts. Everyone loves a jar of jam or apple butter as a Christmas gift, right?

What are the things you look forward to in the fall? The weather, football games, cool nights, harvest?? It is definitely one of my favorite times of year.
